Greaseproof Paper Is a Must When Baking

Baking is a good experience that is not only a career for many people, but it is also a favourite pastime for others. There are those who have secured their marriages by knowing how to bake.

One of the most awkward moments for any baker is when you realise that your cookies or cakes have patches because they stuck to the cooking equipment. Traditionally, there has been baking paper that has been used to prevent the occurrence of such awkward situations. The use of baking papers has however had limitations that can now be taken care of by the use of greaseproof paper.

The difference between the baking paper and Greaseproof paper is in their fundamental structures and their abilities.  Baking paper which is also called a baking parchment is used when baking things such as cookies or biscuits. These are baking products that are often removed hot from the oven. If not placed on the right material, they end up sticking on the surface of the material that is used and leave very ugly patches. The paper works when used to immediately place the cookies emptied from the tins.

Greaseproof paper also known as wax paper is known for behaving like grease. It is resistant to water and does not allow water to permeate from both the inside or outside. It is useful to both baking and cold storage. One can keep his foods inside the refrigerator for a long period of time without having to be afraid of water linings between the food and the container. In baking, greaseproof paper is not recommended because it uses a coating of wax to prevent the sticking of the foods. In an oven use, the heat from the oven or the food can heat up the wax coating rending the paper ineffective.

Being non-absorbent gives the greaseproof paper a high effectiveness as a kitchen food wrapping material. Traditionally, packaging of foods such as pancakes has required the addition of a little cooking oil on it to prevent sticking. The non-stick characteristic of the paper therefore allows its use in wrapping foods for storage. Even when transporting foods over a long distance with exposure to heat, the use of the paper with the waxing will keep the food fresh. There will be no sticking to the wrapping paper as may be observed in most of the food packaging materials.

As most good things would be, the cost of the greaseproof paper may be a little higher than usual. However, the benefits far outstrip the little additional cost associated with it.  In case, you target your baking products for commercial sale, then the use of the paper in wrapping or baking is even of more advantage. Moreover, not only will you have more presentable baking, but you will also be able to improve your competitiveness in business.
